Round Rock ISD: Alicia-Peters Jordan Named Anderson Mill Elementary Teacher Of The Year

ROUND ROCK, TX -- Alicia-Peters-Jordan has been named the Anderson Mill Elementary School Teacher of the Year, district officials said.

“The overwhelming opportunity I have to help shape the minds and personalities of children I teach is one I do not take lightly,” Peters-Jordan said in receiving the presitigious award. “Not only do I teach my students academics, I teach them to be fair, care about others as intensely as they care for themselves, and to learn tolerance, respect and integrity.”

As a third-grade teacher at Anderson Mill, Peters-Jordan strives to create an environment conducive to lifelong learning, she told district officials in a profile.

“The amazing, brilliant scholars I work with everyday, which I serve with joy, inspire me as they become who they will finally be right before my eyes,” Peters-Jordan said. “I teach because I learn from them how to be the best me, while hopefully instilling that same desire in them.”

The community in Peters-Jordans class focuses on individual personalities and learning styles. Anderson Mill, which is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School, enables Peters-Jordan the opportunity to bring real-world experiences and examples to the classroom, incorporating students' interests into lessons.

Anderson Mill Principal Trana Allen praised the educator's ability and willingness to work closely with students of all needs -- emerging as a role model for staff in the process.

“Mrs. Peters-Jordan is a team leader and looks out for more than the 17 scholars in her classroom,” Allen said. “She is gifted in many areas and respected by all.”
