• TXST expands Bobcat Promise program, extending free tuition beginning with Fall 2027 freshman class (txst.edu) — Round Rock families eyeing Texas State University have a bigger shot at free tuition starting with the Fall 2027 freshman class, thanks to an expanded Bobcat Promise that now covers students from families earning up to $100,000. Eligible Texas residents can study full-time at TXST's Round Rock or San Marcos campuses with tuition and mandatory fees covered for up to four years.
• Round Rock residents to see higher water, wastewater, sewer bills (communityimpact.com) — Round Rock residents and businesses will see their water and sewer bills rise about 3%-5% annually over the next three years under a newly approved rate model. City officials say higher raw water costs, employee salaries, major infrastructure debt, and sharply increased electricity prices are driving the hikes, and note that earlier wholesale rate freezes left retail customers effectively subsidizing other users.
• Middle school renovations, donut shop: Check out 5 major Austin-area permits filed this week (communityimpact.com) — A major renovation and expansion is planned for Deerpark Middle School in Round Rock ISD, including new fine arts and classroom space plus upgraded athletic facilities. The $20 million project, one of the week's largest Austin-area permits, is scheduled from March 2027 through June 2028 and will significantly reshape the campus experience for local students and families.
