• East Old Settlers Boulevard extension opens; 4 other transportation updates (communityimpact.com) — Drivers in Round Rock now have a new connection between Red Bud Lane and CR 110 with the opening of the East Old Settlers Boulevard extension, easing east-side travel. Several other major projects are underway or in design, including I-35 widening, North Mays and Kenney Fort expansions, and the Wyoming Springs extension, all set to reshape local commutes over the next few years.
• Meet the 2026 candidates for Texas' U.S. Senate race (sanantonioreport.org) — Round Rock residents will see a familiar name atop this year's U.S. Senate ballot, as former local state representative James Talarico faces Republican Ken Paxton in a closely watched race. Talarico, who moved to Round Rock after teaching in San Antonio, is drawing unusually strong Democratic fundraising, while Paxton brings statewide name recognition and controversy into a contest that could help decide control of the U.S. Senate.
• With estranged husband on the ballot, Angela Paxton tells group of Texas women to vote GOP 'even if we're mad at them' (kwtx.com) — Round Rock recently hosted a closed-door meeting of the Texas Federation of Republican Women where State Sen. Angela Paxton urged attendees to back GOP candidates, even those they're unhappy with. Her remarks, given as her estranged husband Ken Paxton runs for U.S. Senate against Democrat James Talarico, highlight how Republican women are being courted as potential deciders in this unusually competitive statewide race.
