Citizens Police Academy Registration Open In Round Rock
12-week educational opportunity gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at the many functions of the police department.
ROUND ROCK, TX — The Round Rock Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week educational opportunity that gives participants a behind the scenes look at the many functions of the police department.
The Citizens Police Academy is a hands-on course where participants will drive a police car in an obstacle course, go to a shooting range, work a mock crime scene and more. Citizens will meet officers from every division: K9 Unit, Training and Recruiting, Dispatch, SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Crime Scene, Evidence, Patrol, School Resource Program and Criminal Investigations.
Classes take place every Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center, 2801 N. Mays St. The course concludes with a graduation ceremony and dinner. Space is limited. The Spring 2020 class will start on Feb. 11 and graduation ceremonies will be held on May 6.

Graduates of the program are eligible for additional training and volunteer opportunities, such as Citizens on Patrol, as well as membership in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA).
