Coronavirus: 12th Death Reported In WilCo, 8 More Cases

A man in his 90s succumbed to the respiratory illness one day after a man in his 50s died from virus infection, health officials said.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — A man in his 90s became the 12th person to die of new coronavirus in Williamson County as the number of cases grew by eight to 341 in the past 24 hours, health officials reported on Wednesday.

The illness statistics were provided by the Williamson County and Cities Health District on a dashboard that is updated daily. Acccording to the dashboard data, a dozen patients remain hospitalized while two are on ventilators. Health officials noted 199 people have recovered in the county after having contracted the COVID-19 virus.

The death marks the second in as many days for Williamson County. On Tuesday, health officials reported a man in his 50s had succumbed to the respiratory illness. Provisions related to patient privacy inhibit the release of further details, health officials said.

“It is heartbreaking to report the county’s twelfth death," Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement. "I am reminded that we are still in the fight against this deadly disease, and it will take all of us doing our part to keep our loved ones, and others in our community safe. When we make sacrifices to reduce the spread we save lives.”
