Coronavirus: Williamson County Illness Count Tops 100
Health officials updated the rate of respiratory illness on Thursday, adding six more patient to the count while noting 49 have recovered.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Health officials on Thursday confirmed the emergence of six new coronavirus cases for the region, bringing the total to 103.
In updating the illness count, Williamson County and Cities Health District officials of late have noted the number of afflicted people who have since recovered from the respiratory illness — 49 people at last check. To date, four people have died in the county after contracting the COVID-19 virus that causes respiratory failure.
Health officials said additional COVID-19 deaths and cases will be reported on the dashboard located at www.wcchd.org/COVID-19/dashboard.php, containing data that is updated at around noon daily. Cases in "Other cities in Williamson County" column are a combined total that include cities with populations below 20,000 and unincorporated Williamson to protect the privacy of residents, health officials noted.

The county figures show the highest concentration of illness has come from Round Rock, with 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases — 38 percent of all cases. The breakdown of confirmed cases monitored by county officials at other area cities is provided on the dashboard:

- Georgetown: 13
- Hutto: 9

According to the county data, 46 of the diagnosed patients are men and 57 are women — 45 percent and 55 percent, respectively. The most affected age group is between 41 and 60 years of age, representing 44 percent of the total illness count. The 18-40 age group represents 29 percent of cases, and the 0-17 age group comprises 3 percent of illness.
With every update on spreading illness, health officials also repeat advcie for those exhibiting symptoms. Symptomatic residents with cough, fever and shortness of breath, are urged to contact their health care providers. It's important to call ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential spread, officials added.
