Employee Accused Of Embezzling $188K-Plus From Round Rock Business

ROUND ROCK, TX — An employee of a Round Rock business is accused of embezzling nearly $200,000 from an electrical supply business over a five-year period, according to a published report.
Hector Perez, 37, of Hutto is accused of taking $188,000 from the Elliott Electric Supply store, 445 Texas Ave., after a manager there discovered shortfalls during a January inventory audit, the Austin American-Statesman said, citing an arrest affidavit.
The manager later discovered Perez had created false invoice from Jan. 3-12 centered on fictitious logs on returned merchandise, according to the report. All told, Perez allegedly created $188,734 in false invoices, transferring the fake refunds to his credit cards, according to the affidavit.

Perez is said to have confessed to the theft. He's since been charged with second-degree felony theft, punishable by up to 20 years in prison. He was released Wednesday after posting $40,000 bail, according to Williamson County Jail records.
