Family Sues Round Rock ISD
Candy Mendoza says her daughter was left unattended too many times, arriving home via bus when she was supposed to be in school.
ROUND ROCK, TX — The family of a student has sued the Round Rock ISD after alleging the girl was left unattended too many times, according to a published report.
Fox 7 reports that Candy Mendoza alleges her daughter was left alone starting in the 2017-18 academic year, one of earliest incidents when the girl was just five years old and was escorted to board a bus when she was supposed to be in after-school care.
The last straw was when the daughter again arrived home via a school bus when she was supposed to be at school, according to the report.

Although unable to discuss specifics of the case given the ongoing nature of the litigation, Round Rock ISD released the following statement:
“We don’t generally comment on a lawsuit we haven’t received, and are unable to speak specifically to the situation due to FERPA, but are aware of the claim. The safety of our students is our first priority, and that includes during the transportation of students before and after school hours. If issues do present themselves, we take immediate corrective matters to address them. Again, we aren’t able to speak to specifics, but what we can share is that statements made pre-litigation may not accurately represent actual events and as details come forward through the litigation process may change the understanding of events as evident in the recent Kenyon non-renewal hearing held on August 5, 2019.”
