400 Jobs to Round Rock? Food Service Company Offered Incentives

Los Angeles-based ProPortion Foods LLC has been offered economic incentives to move into a Round Rock building previously owned by Sysco.

The Los Angeles-based food service company ProPortion Foods LLC is planning to relocate to Round Rock, and is expected to bring up to 400 new job openings along with it.

On Dec. 3, the Round Rock City Council approved an economic agreement with the company, which includes property tax abatements and $400,000 in economic incentive payments, the American Statesman reported. ProPortion will receive a 50-percent tax abatement on city property taxes and economic incentive payments of $200,000 in 2017, $100,000 in 2018 and $100,000 in 2019 from the city.

ProPortion Foods’ end of the deal is it must relocate its “food processing, storage and warehouse facility” within city limits, according to the Statesman. The company also must invest $13 million in renovations to the building and keep at least 400 full-time employees over a five-year period.
