Former Round Rock Utility Worker Charged With Stealing From City
Carlos Hernandez, 29, is accused of buying more than $15,000 worth of goods with a city-issued credit card.
ROUND ROCK, TX — A former employee of the municipal utility department has been accused of stealing more than $15,000 from the city, according to a published report.
While working for the Round Rock utility department, Carlos Hernandez, 29, is alleged to have used a city-issued credit card to make $15,138 in unauthorized purchases — including auto parts, two Apple iPhones, two Apple watches, hand tools, power tools, clothing, hunting equipment, gift cards, pocket knives and a 50-gram gold bar — according to an arrest affidavit referenced by the Austin American-Statesman.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hernandez worked as a logistics officer with the city's utility department. After detecting a pattern of unauthorized expenditures, city officials city filed a police report on March 22, according to the report.

Hernandez now faces theft charges, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. He was released from the Williamson County Jail on Friday after posting bond on a $20,000 bail.
