Frisco: Lightning Listed As Cause Of House Fire; No Injuries Reported

(September 2, 2020) Frisco Dispatch was notified of a house fire in the 7000 block of Rainbow Falls Dr. at 5:02 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1. Frisco Fire Department units arrived on scene at 5:09 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke showing from the roof of a single-family residence. Firefighters began an aggressive attack on the structure and the fire was declared β€œunder control” at 05:32 p.m.

The 2nd floor of the home and the attic space sustained heavy fire damage as a result of the incident. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The fire occurred during a thunderstorm and a period of frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes in the area. Frisco Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division has listed the cause of the fire as act of nature from a lightning strike.
