Give Your Wallet A Gift This Year by Investing in Water Smart Technology

ROUND ROCK, TX - This holiday season give yourself and the planet a gift by getting a new ”water smart” washing machine or toilet. 

Round Rock has a water rebate program for the purchase of new efficient clothes washers that meet criteria. There are also rebates for efficient toilets. These water-saving toilets will not only let you cash in on the rebates, but will lower your water bill.

Washers account for about 22 percent of household water use, and getting a new water-efficient toilet can reduce household water use by between 15 and 40 percent depending on how old the previous washer is.

“Energy Star labeled washers use 20 percent less energy, 35 percent less water, and have larger wash tubs, which means fewer loads and less detergent use,” the city of Round Rock wrote on its website.

Toilets use the most water in most households. Replacing an old toilet with one that uses 1.28 gallon per flush or less can save up to 4,000 thousand gallons of water per toilet, per year.
