ROUND ROCK, TX — The words "running" and "donuts" don't usually go together. Such word construction is different than, say, "peanut butter and jelly" or "ham and eggs" in describing ideal pairings.

And yet, in Round Rock, it's a thing manifested as the "Donut Dash 5K" scheduled on Saturday, May 18, in the downtown portion of the city staring at 7 a.m. There's a wine and cheese event happening the same day, another event with a less jarring pairing of words.

"If you sign up for the Challenger division, you will have to do just that," city officials wrote on the municipal website. "Join us for hilarious fun at the inaugural Donut Dash 5K..." officials added. Those signing up for the Casual division is for those who went to run while eating their pastries, while a Zero K division is for those who simply want to eat donuts without the inconvenient exertion of running.

And we thought Austin was keeping things weird. It would appear Round Rock is giving the capital city a run for its money in this regard. But hey: Who doesn't love donuts?

To our knowledge, an illustration of a donut running a 5K has never been created in the history of our world, and yet here it is. Photo courtesy of City of Round Rock.
