Infrastructure Design Firm Contracted By Williamson County Focus Of FBI Probe
FBI officials raided the offices of Dannenbaum Engineering and several city offices in Laredo as part of a public corruption probe.

ROUND ROCK, TX — An engineering firm recently hired by Williamson County officials for design work is the focus of an FBI public corruption probe, according to media reports.
The offices of Dannenbaum Engineering and several Laredo municipal buildings were raided by the FBI on Tuesday, the San Antonio Express-News reported. According to news reports, authorities removed the front door to the Dannenbaum Engineering office as part of their raid while asking some city employees to leave their workplace.
The Austin American-Statesman noted that Williamson County recently contracted with Dannenbaum Engineering to design improvements for County Road 110 South. The project involved an upgrade of two existing two-lane roadway from Texas 79 to Limmer Loop stretching 2.2 miles of roadway to a three-lane roadway, making up half of an ultimate six-lane facility, the publication reported.

FBI spokesperson Shauna Dunlap confirmed in a prepared statement that the agency was conducting an operation there: "I can confirm FBI personnel are present at that location conducting a lawful law enforcement operation. No arrests have been made."

No further details were released by the FBI.
An attorney representing Dannenbaum Engineering, Joel M. Androphy of Berg & Androphy, also confirmed the activity. He released the following statement:
“Dannenbaum Engineering, one of the state’s premier firms for infrastructure planning and design, is cooperating with federal authorities regarding government requests for information. Company management is investigating the basis of the government requests. We are uncertain whether the inquiry is focused on the company’s activities or those of its business competitors. We intend to comment further when appropriate.”
