“It is easy to win Judge of the Year award in Texas when you have an amazing staff like I do,” Gravell said. “My staff has been recognized in our state and in our nation.”

Gravell was nominated by Judge Nathan L. Hecht, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas. In his recommendation letter, Hecht said: “The Justices of the Peace disposed of 2.3 million cases last year. Many Texans’ only encounter with the Judiciary is in the Justice Courts. For them, the Justices of the Peace are the face of the Texas Judiciary. Judge Gravell represents us well. He is among the finest judges and judicial administrators I have known.”
