Laptops@Home Gives Over 600 Computers to District Families
The program also offers free technology training for both children and adults.

ROUND ROCK, TX - Round Rock ISD has given out over 600 laptops to district families that do not have computers in their homes.
The Laptops@Home Program works to increase students’ access to technology by handing out surplus laptops that have been reprogrammed to keep up with student needs.
“Access to technology is essential for students to complete homework, and work collaboratively with students at any location,” Mark Gabehart, executive director of information and technology services, said in a news release. “We are excited to offer the Laptops @Home program to our students in an effort to bridge the gap in technology between the classroom and home.”

The laptops come with a protective bag and the program offers free technology training to both children and adults. The program offers this service because it is important for parents to have access to online resources as well as students. This gives parents better access to their children’s education.
“Through Parent University classes and Parent Center computer labs, parents are learning about Home Access and school websites,” said Kathryn Burch, Title I parent programs coordinator. “They now have the tools and support to effectively communication with the child’s teachers. We are proud to be a part of this program.”
