Large Grass Fire Contained In Round Rock
Crews evacuated nearby residents who were close to blaze amid amid dry, windy conditions at Old Settlers Boulevard and Brenda Lane.
ROUND ROCK, TX — A large grass fire prompted the evacuation of area residents before the conflagration was extinguished on Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out just off Old Settlers Boulevard and Brenda Lane just before 6 p.m. Given high winds amid dry conditions prior to a rare rain shower — the first in two months for this part of Central Texas — Round Rock Fire Department crews responded en masse to the scene to mitigate the flames, according to the Precinct 1 constable's office.
Roughly two hours later, the constable updated with good news: "We are happy to report the fires been contained no structures were damaged." It's unclear how many residents were evacuated from their homes before getting the all-clear to return.
