ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — The baseball season is just across the horizon, and the city's minor league team is including its youngest fans in the excitement.

The Round Rock Express and St. David’s HealthCare are teaming up to welcome the newest Express fans. Parents of all babies born this baseball season at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center will receive a commemorative Express and St. David’s branded baseball complete with their newborn’s footprints.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center to give new parents in Round Rock a priceless gift from their hometown team,” Express Senior Vice President of Marketing Laura Fragoso said in a prepared statement. “As we enter our 20th anniversary season, we can’t wait to meet our future Express fans. We hope this can be the first of many wonderful memories that the Round Rock Express and St. David’s make with these families.”

The Express and St. David’s partnered together last fall to offer all newborn babies their first Express caps and certificates of fandom, officials reminded. This year’s baby baseball program is an extension of a strong partnership between the Round Rock Express and St. David’s HealthCare to welcome families to Dell Diamond. Illustrative of that partnership, the Express and St. David’s in 2017 debuted the “Lactation Station,” a private, air-conditioned room for breastfeeding mothers located in the left-field corner of Dell Diamond.

"We are proud to continue our partnership with the Express and bring joy to families during baseball season,” Jeremy Barclay, chief executive officer of St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, said. “Welcoming a new baby is an exciting time for any family and we are looking forward to making it that much more special with these mementos. It just so happens there are two perfectly sized patches on a baseball for a newborn’s footprints.”

The Express open their historic 20th anniversary season on the road against the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Miami Marlins affiliate) on Thursday, April 4 before returning to Dell Diamond on Tuesday, April 9 for a five-game series against the Nashville Sounds (Texas Rangers affiliate). Single game tickets, season memberships and flex plan ticket packages are on sale now.
