Lock-Down Lifted At Westwood High School: Round Rock ISD

Police were dealing with an undisclosed threat at the campus before the lock-down mode was lifted by 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — Westwood High School in North Austin was placed on lock-down mode Wednesday afternoon as police dealt with an undisclosed threat to the campus, according to reports.

Principal Mario Acosta told KVUE the lock-down at Westwood High School began around 1:35 p.m. as law enforcement addressed an unknown concern. The lock-down was lifted by 2:45 p.m.

Parents were alerted to the precautionary action via correspondence. KVUE and other media outlets reported seeing parents on the sidewalk fronting the campus waiting to pick up their children.

Round Rock ISD officials have offered no details on what prompted the move. Patch will update if more details are provided.

Located in the Anderson Mill neighborhood, Westwood High School is part of the Round Rock Independent School District. In 2013, Westwood was ranked the 57th best high school in the nation and the 8th best high school in Texas by Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
