Man With Gun At Round Rock ER Demanded Mental Health Treatment

Ron Mosmeyer, 53, walked into Baylor Scott & White Medical Center​ before his arrest in search of immediate medical attention, police said.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The man who displayed a handgun in a Round Rock hospital over the weekend demanded to be treated for mental illness, police said in providing more details Monday on the incident.

Police said Ron Mosmeyer, 53, walked into the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center emergency room at 300 University Blvd. just after 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, before threatening two workers while displaying a handgun. Police on Monday said the man already was in handcuffs by the time they arrived on the scene, according to a KXAN report.

What's more, according to the report, Mosmeyer is said to have disassembled his handgun before placing it on the floor after learning the arrival of police was imminent.

One of the hospital workers told police Mosmeyer demanded to be seen immediately after being asked for his name and date of birth. The worker said she saw Mosmeyer shouting while pointing a gun at the registration clerk.
Mosmeyer faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
