Man Points Gun In Throes Of Round Rock Road Rage, Gets Jailed

Ricky Robinson, 54, said a car cut him off along I-35, so he reached for his .45 Colt and pointed it at passengers that included a child.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A man from the town of China Spring just outside Waco, Texas, was recently charged with pointing a gun at a girl in an apparent case of road rage, according to reports.

Police were called about the incident just before 1 p.m. on Saturday when a man later identified as Ricky Robinson, 54, was said to be waving a gun out of the window of his pickup truck along the 4000 block of Interstate 35 in Round Rock, according to an arrest affidavit referenced by the Austin American-Statesman.

When police arrived, Robinson directed them to look inside a towel inside the driver door compartment of his vehicle, according to the report. Wrapped in the towel was a .45 automatic Colt pistol, police discovered.

Robinson explained he had been cut off by a black Mustang before slowing down and trapping him beside a big rig. His reflexive action at being pinned between vehicles was, apparently, to wave the unloaded gun at the other car's passengers that included a 12-year-old girl, according to the affidavit.

That move was not the correct one, according to laws dictating this sort of behavior. Robinson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Williamson County Jail records. He was released on Sunday after posting bond on a $25,000 bail, but the charge is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
