Man Who Drowned At Lake Travis Was Round Rock Resident

Sebastian Medina-Page, 38, was working underwater trying to repair a broken pump when he may have gotten tangled up.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS — The man who drowned at Lake Travis this week was identified by sheriff's officials on Friday.

Just before 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, the Travis County Sheriff's Office responded to the lake after a call to assist EMS workers at the scene. A man dove in the Hurst Creek Arm area of the lake without resurfacing. Bystanders were able to retrieve the man from the water and perform CPR efforts to save him proved futile.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased man as Sebastian Medina-Page, 38, of Round Rock. Officials noted the man was a project manager/diver who was working underwater to fix a broken pump for a private residence at the time of his death. He may have gotten tangled up while underwater, officials suggested in a press advisory.

"TCSO is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident," officials wrote. "While it is too soon to definitively determine the cause, evidence indicates a significant tangle in the line Medina-Page was tethered to. The investigation is ongoing and a final ruling will not be made until all evidence is collected and processed and the Medical Examiner’s report is finalized."
