New Doughnut Shop Coming To Round Rock

Husband-and-wife entrepreneurs will open up Donut 79 less than a mile from iconic Round Rock Donuts.

ROUND ROCK, TX — When it comes to doughnuts, it's hard to compete with Round Rock Donuts — a pastry mecca to which aficionados flock. Still, one business owner is poised to give the institution a run for its money.

Sean White will soon be unveiling his own store called Donut 79 on Liberty Avenue, less than a mile from Round Rock Donuts, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Along with his wife, Sokhun White, the businessman has owned and operated the Daylight Donuts franchise on Austin Avenue in Georgetown for eight years.

To compete against Round Rock Donuts, one has to has to stand out somehow. To distinguish itself from its competitors, the store will offer low-priced fare: 65 cents for glazed and cake doughnuts, $6.50 a dozen for glazed or filled varieties. White said he also plans to offer discounts for schools, teachers and churches, offering them a dozen doughnuts for $5, he told the newspaper.
