New Retail Shopping Space Coming To Round Rock

A 13-acre tract containing a collective 102,000-square-foot in retail space creates retail synergy near La Frontera Village Center.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Bucking the trend of virtual, if not brick-and-mortar, shopping areas, construction of a new shopping center in Round Rock is well under way.

The developing shopping venue is located at the northwest corner of Interstate 5 and Texas 45, as the Austin American-Statesman reported. Dubbed Point Shopping Center, the retail space will comprise two main buildings on a 13-acre tract where a now-shuttered Garden Ridge store once stood.

What's developing at the site is a sizable stop for future shoppers, with one of the buildings encompassing 60,000 square feet and the other 42,000 square feet, according to the report. MFB Real Estate Services is overseeing development, in conjunction with Austowers, the newspaper reported.

Once built, the site will house 15 tenants, officials said. Begun over the summer, construction is now set for a March completion, officials added. A search for tenants continues, with officials from retailers, fitness centers, furniture stores and restaurants expressing interest in locating there, according to the report.

Existing retail outlets at the La Frontera Village Center—a Barnes & Noble bookstore, Bed Bath & Beyond and Old Navy stores—yields a ready-made shopping synergy at the site.
