New School's Attendance Boundaries Announced
Elementary School No. 34 will take students from Wells Branch and Bluebonnet Schools.

Attendance boundaries for Round Rock’s newest elementary school have been announced.
Parent’s who send their children to Wells Branch or Bluebonnet, take notice.
Round Rock school district COO Bon Cervi announced the attendance boundaries for Elementary School No. 34 during a board meeting October 15, according to the district’s website. The proposed plan will cut Wells Branch attendance in half and take in Bluebonnet students who live south of TX-45.

The new school is expected to open fall 2016. Cervi presented information on current and predicted future demographics for both Wells Branch and Bluebonnet at the board meeting.
Currently Wells Branch has an attendance of 979, with 50.9 percent of students classified as economically disadvantaged. The school currently has a utilization rate of 130.9 percent, which means that the number of students is above the designed capacity. After re-zoning attendance Wells branch attendance will nearly but cut in half to 487. Of those students 58.1 percent will be economically disadvantaged, just under 8 percent higher than the current number. The school’s utilization rate will drop to 65.1 percent.

The changes for Bluebonnet will not be as extreme. Attendance will shift from 574 to 544, with less than a 1 percent change in economically disadvantaged schools. Utilization percent will change from 111 percent to 105.2 percent.
Elementary School No. 34 is predicted to have an attendance of 522, with 44.8 of the students being economically disadvantaged. The school’s utilization percent will be 57.
Parents for Bluebonnet and Wells Branch were able to discuss the changes during public hearings and the school board will meet Nov. 19 to go over possible modifications to the plan.
