Pneumonia Prevalent in Round Rock: Doctor

Crowded stores are breeding grounds for potentially dangerous germs.

ROUND ROCK, TX - A Round Rock doctor said he has seen several cases of pneumonia every day. The lung infection generally develops after somebody catches a bad cold or fungal infection.

Brandon Browne with Baylor Scott and White Healthcare in Round Rock told KXAN that some advice to keep the infections from spreading are to wash hands and even wipe down shopping carts before use.

“My grandson got really sick when he was born and my daughter and I just started using hand sanitizer after everything,” Judy Smith told KXAN.

Another important way to keep germs from spreading is to avoid family, friends, and public places if already ill.

“Stay home, don’t carry those germs and spread them to other people,” Dr. Browne said.

Certain vaccines can also help decrease one’s chance of developing pneumonia, including the flu vaccine, KXAN reported.
