ROUND ROCK, TX — Police this week caught a Round Rock bank robbery suspect in Bell County after a car chase, officials said.
Round Rock police responded to a bank robbery at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union, 121 University Oak Blvd., at around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Officers later spotted a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car and attempted to pull the motorist over before the driver peeled off toward North Interstate 35, according to the report.
At that point, Round Rock stopped following the vehicle to allow Texas Department of Public Safety to continue the chase, police told the newspaper. The car ended up crashing in Bell County, and the driver was booked into jail. Police noted the motorist has not been formally charged with the bank robbery but has emerged as a suspect.
