Round Rock City Officials Studying Feasibility Of Building Natatorium Costing Upwards Of $30M
The indoor swimming facility might be a ballot item on an upcoming bond election.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- City council members are mulling the idea of spending more than $30 million on a natatorium.
At a recent special meeting, Round Rock City Council members gathered to discuss a feasibility study to build an indoor swimming complex. As KXAN-TV reported, a consultant presented two options for the city to explore: One costing roughly $31 million that would include two pools, a 50-meter one and another for diving, and a second option costing upwards of $25 million that would include a 50-meter pool and a lap pool.
City officials are also looking into the possibility of partnering with other entities -- the Round Rock ISD and the Chasco Family YMCA, for example -- to help defray construction costs, the news station reported.

Plans call for the formation of a citizens bond committee in October or November for further study, with the possibility of putting the item up for a vote in a May 2017 bond election. If the latter option is chosen, the decision to put the item on the ballot would have to be made by February, KXAN noted.
