ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — The Round Rock Council of PTAs has scheduled several upcoming events designed to engage and educate community members on issues that impact public schools and children in the school district.
- RRISD School Board Candidate Forum scheduled Oct 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Westwood High School Cafetorium.
- C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) scheduled to take place Oct 3 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Cedar Ridge HS Performing Arts Center.
- Hey Dude, Nice Shoes on Oct 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at C.D. Fulkes MS Auditorium is an anti-bullying/pro-kindness presentation.

Would you know what to do if you ever found yourself in an active shooter situation? The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT).The course provides strategies and guidance for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, and demonstrates examples of things to do in case of an active shooter event. This potentially lifesaving program is open to the public and will address what individuals need to know to look out for their individual safety. There is no charge to attend this presentation. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND!!! Williamson County Sheriff, Brandon Schaefer, is the lead instructor for this program.

She has a unique perspective that spans from being the daughter of an educator, a student, a teacher and a parent. Today, Carolyn travels all over the state of Texas and shares her Anti-Bullying/ Pro-Kindness presentation, “Hey Dude, Nice Shoes” with students of all ages and their parents. During this empowering and inspiring workshop, she shares her unique experiences and stories in a passionate and honest way to educate the two separate generations on this sensitive topic and bridge the gap of understanding about growing up.

Round Rock ISD Council of PTAs is a regional unit of Texas and National PTA and represents nearly 22,000 annual individual members (2017-2018) and 54 local campus PTA units. RRISD Council of PTA’s mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Our purpose is to act as a primary channel of communication with the PTA network by providing information, inspiration, support, guidance, and instruction to its member PTAs.
