Round Rock Development Code Inches Moves Toward City Approval

Planning & Zoning Commission recently recommended for approval this blueprint for future development.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The city's Planning & Zoning Commission recently recommended the Development Code for approval.

The Dec. 21 endorsement by the P&Z commission includes provisions for roadway connectivity withing and between new residential subdivisions. A slideshow can be viewed for more information.

Officials said the Development Code will shape Round Rock’s built environment for years to come, touching everything from new residential neighborhoods to shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, industrial parks, and more.

"Aspects of development both big and small will be affected by updated regulations, which will create a more resilient, high-quality city," officials said. "The end result will go a long way toward ensuring Round Rock maintains its prominent reputation as a first-class place to live, work, and play."

City officials are soliciting residents' comments and feedback on the draft Development Code using a form accessible by clicking here. Residents wanting a reply should include their name and email.

The City of Round Rock has been working since 2013 to update and consolidate all its land development regulations into a single document called a Development Code. Planning and Development Services staff made informational presentations at the Oct. 5, Nov. 1, Nov. 16, and Dec. 7 Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, the latter three of which included public hearings.

More opportunities are scheduled at future public hearings to provide input to staff, the Planning and Zoning Commission, and City Council. Here is a tentative timeline:
