Round Rock Earns Budget Award For 23rd Consecutive Year

Government finance officers group recognizes 2018-19 spending plan, city officials said.

ROUND ROCK, TX — The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) announced the City of Round Rock has received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City’s most recent budget, officials said this week.

This marks the 23rd consecutive year the City of Round Rock has earned this honor, officials noted on the municipal website.

The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the city’s staff and council to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting, according to the city. In order to receive the budget award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines that assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:

Moreover, budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
