Round Rock Educator Accused Of Choking Child At North Austin Roller Rink

Officials say Chad Sanders is a Cedar Valley Middle School assistant vice principal on administrative leave after separate internal probe.

ROUND ROCK, TX β€” An assistant vice principal at the Round Rock ISD was arrested on Monday after being accused of choking a child at a roller rink in North Austin, according to a published report.

According to police, Chad Warren Sanders is accused of assaulting a stranger's 10-year-old child at Playland Skate Center, 8822 McCann Dr., in North Austin on May 12 after the boy asked if he could have some food left over after a party there, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Sanders, 40, is accused of choking the inquiring child. He has since been booked into the Travis County Jail on a felony charge of injuring a child, a felony that carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison upon conviction.

On his LinkedIn page, Sanders describes himself as a "teacher at Round Rock ISD" without identifying his specific workplace. Round Rock ISD confirmed with the Statesman that Sanders is an assistant vice principal at Cedar Valley Middle School but has been on administrative leave since March as a result of a separate internal investigationβ€”the nature of which school district officials did not disclose.
