Round Rock First Responders Staging Annual 'Public Safety Day'
It's a chance to see up close some of the tools first responders utilize in the interest of public safety.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- Mark your calendars, Round Rock residents, to show your support of law enforcement and first responders with the annual Public Safety Day scheduled for this coming Saturday.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 24, Round Rock police, fire and Wilco EMS personnel will stage equipment and static displays for the public to view. Among the attractions: Round Rock SWAT Team; Traffic unit motorcycles; Crime scene accouterments; Round Rock fire engines; Hazmat stuff; a live demonstration of a vehicle extraction by the Water Rescue Team.
The work of first responders can often be viewed only in the abstract, details of the work description gleaned from news stories of when they report to the scene of an emergency. This event really brings it home, with tangible evidence of the invaluable work they perform each day in the interest of public safety.

Not all first responders are human. Presentations from McGruff the Crime Dog and the K9 unit will also be featured. There will be games, face painting and more attractions for all to enjoy, Round Rock police said.
This free event will take place at the Texas Baptist Children's Home located at 1101 N. Mays St.
