Round Rock High School Evacuated Amid Suspicious Package Threat
Students were taken out of class late Friday morning before the parcel was deemed to be non-threatening two hours later.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Students were evacuated from Cedar Ridge High School Friday afternoon after a suspicious package was found in the mail room, according to reports, before the parcel was deemed non-threatening.
The news of the evacuation lit up neighborhood groups on social media where concerned parents discussed the matter. The drama ended at around 12:40 p.m. after police determined the package was benign. But before that determination was made, school officials evacuated students from classrooms as early as 10:40 a.m. before resuming classes.
District officials then sent a notice to parents alerting them of the incident at the school located on Gattis School Road near Double Creek Drive.

The reaction to the suspicious package comes in the wake of serial bombings in Austin throughout last month that left two people dead and others injured. Since that ordeal, school officials and others have taken preventive measures upon seeing unexpected packages in an abundance of caution.
While the threat is effectively over, Round Rock police continue to investigate the matter.

This marks the second time in just over a week that classes have been evacuated at a Round Rock school over a suspicious package. On March 29, officials cleared classrooms at Canyon Vista Middle School, 8455 Spicewood Springs Rd. in Austin, after a box was found outside classroom buildings there. The all-clear was given an hour later at about 9:45 a.m. after police found the cardboard vessel to be empty.
