Round Rock High School Lauded For Safe, Collaborative Setting

ROUND ROCK, TX — Westwood High School has achieved a level one certification in the Marzano High Reliability Schools (HRS) program for creating a safe and collaborative culture, district officials said.

The HRS program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success, school officials explained. Using a research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor and confirm the effectiveness of their schools, officials added.

To be certified as level one, schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.Using the HRS framework and indicators, schools can drive sustained, positive and significant impact on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system, according to Marzano Research.

“Westwood is a stellar campus and has achieved incredible success in so many areas,” Superintendent Steve Flores said in a prepared statement. “This latest accomplishment underscores Westwood’s commitment to ensuring their learning environments are successful and providing a supportive learning experience for all students.”

District officials noted 11 Round Rock ISD campuses have achieved Marzano certifications ranging from levels one to three:

• Anderson Mill Elementary, Level Three
• Berkman Elementary, Level Three
• Bluebonnet Elementary, Level One
• Callison Elementary, Level One
• C.D. Fulkes Middle, Level Two
• Hernandez Middle, Level Three
• Robertson Elementary, Level Two
• Stony Point High, Level One
• Union Hill Elementary, Level Two
• Voigt Elementary, Level Three
• Westwood High, Level One
