Round Rock Home Garage Catches Fire
Fire at 557 Golden Creek Dr. near Brushy Creek underscores need to remove combustible items from garages, fire chief told Patch.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A house just south of Brushy Creek caught fire Friday morning, officials said.
Fire officials responded to 557 Golden Creek Dr. at 8:01 a.m. where they found the home's garage engulfed in flames, Fire Chief Robert Isbell told Patch in a telephone interview. The fire was promptly contained and extinguished; no injuries were reported, Isbell said.
It's unclear what caused the fire, but the chief said it does not appear to be suspicious or intentionally set. Fire investigators visited the site at around noon Friday to ascertain what may have caused the blaze. He noted there were some items in the garage that could have caused the conflagration — "normal garage stuff," he said — but was unable to provide details given the ongoing nature of the fire investigation.

With the heat in triple digits for the last three weeks or so, residents are urged to implement safeguards to prevent combustible materials to catch fire. Asked by Patch for any tips to prevent such fires, Chief Isbell said all combustible materials should be taken out of garages and living quarters, and be redeposited in outside sheds if possible.
"Somewhere where it can vent when it gets hot," Isbell said, referring to ideal locations for potentially combustible materials. "When it gets hot, you need to be careful with any ignition sources or burning material."
