Round Rock ISD To Celebrate National School Breakfast Week At Its Campuses [Video]

The national School Nutrition Association launched the week-long event to promote the idea of a healthful breakfast for schoolkids.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Ace, the Round Rock ISD Food Services mascot, and Spike from the Round Rock Express are teaming up to commemorate National School Breakfast Week on campus.

Running from March 6-10, National School Breakfast Week has as its theme this year "Take the School Breakfast Challenge,” encouraging parents, students and school officials to start their morning with a healthful breakfast.

The event was launched by the School Nutrition Association, which offers tips on scheduling a successful breakfast challenge on its website. It's designed to promote healthful eating and encouraging the eating of a good breakfast to start the day off right.

A toolkit, activity sheets are featured on the SNA website, as well as a portal for specialized apparel, decorations and student giveaways. There's a poll on the website as well, soliciting responses from participants as to which part of National School Breakfast Week is their favorite. The choices: Decorating the cafeteria with posters, balloons and more; inviting special guests to attend breakfast; serving up special new menu items on the line; or activities, games and contests for kids

At Round Rock ISD campuses, students who eat breakfast at school are eligible to win a Round Rock Express Kids Club package.
