Round Rock ISD Expected To Resume Operations On Wednesday
Decision to re-open comes as some school districts still tentative in announcing a re-opening after wintry mix prompted mass closures.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Round Rock ISD officials have opted to re-open campuses on Wednesday to resume classes after having closed on Tuesday amid a winter storm.
Multiple school districts opted to close down on Tuesday as a winter storm blasted into the region, bringing with it sub-freezing temperatures resulting in icy roads. But with weather steadily warming up, some school districts have opted to re-open for business on Wednesday.
Round Rock ISD is one such school district: "Round Rock ISD does not anticipate school delays or closures tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 17," officials wrote on Twitter. However, they left the possibility open should conditions take a turn for the worse: "Staff will monitor weather and road conditions throughout the evening and alert parents if conditions change."

Should school resume on Wednesday, parents (and all motorists) are urged to slow down and keep a safe distance with the car in front of them given the possibility of ice on roadways. For a list of street closures, visit DriveTexas.org.
While the warming trend will culminate by Thursday when temps will potentially reach the upper 50s, we're not out of the frigid woods yet. Freezing temperatures are expected late Wednesday. Texas Department of Transportation crews treated major roadways (mainly Interstate 35) to mitigate ice formation as early as Sunday, which likely diminished traffic collisions, but drivers should still be vigilant due to patches of lingering ice on the road.
