Round Rock ISD Heightens Security Measures After Man Follows Girl To School

Girl says she was followed as she walked to Brushy Creek Elementary School, prompting police investigation and letter to parents/guardians.

ROUND ROCK, TX — School district officials have heightened security measures after a student reported she was followed by a strange man as she walked to school on Thursday, according to reports.

The Brushy Creek Elementary School student's report prompted police to launch an investigation and district officials to send a letter to parents and guardians about the incident, KXAN and other media outlets reported. In their correspondence, district officials advise parents/guardians to talk to their children on how to remain safe. Among the tips offered:

  • Always walk or bike with other students.
  • Be alert to what is happening and who is around them.
  • Never talk to a stranger or go near a stranger’s car.
  • Never accept rides from a stranger.
  • Scream and run if a stranger approaches them and find an adult they know and report what happened immediately.
