Round Rock ISD Student Dies After 'Non-Traffic-Related Emergency On School Bus
School officials decline to reveal details, but police say the child died as a result of an underlying medical condition.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A fifth-grader at Laurel Mountain Elementary School has died after an incident Round Rock ISD officials have categorized as a "non-traffic-related emergency" on a bus Thursday.
Round Rock ISD officials did not identify the student, but police told KVUE the child's death may have been due to an underlying medical condition. "As soon as the bus driver was notified, he pulled over to address the needs of the student," district officials told the news station.
Police told the news station they were called at around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday during the emergency. It was the police who determined the death may have been rooted in a medical issue.

“Counseling services and additional support were at the campus today meeting the needs of students and staff," district officials said. "We will continue to keep the family and school in our thoughts and prayers, supporting students through this tragic time. We will continue to honor the privacy of the grieving family."
