Round Rock ISD Superintendent Outlines Bond-Funded Projects
In a summer bond update to parents, Superintendent Steve Flores outlines myriad improvements across district funded by bonds proceeds.
ROUND ROCK, TX — Several projects are underfoot at Round Rock ISD by virtue of Bond 2018, the superintendent wrote in an update to parents.
Writing on the district website, Superintendent Steve Flores outlined projects related to safety and security, technology, capital renewal and replacement and athletics. Safety and security projects include the installation of surveillance cameras and panic buttons for portable classrooms, installation of a video intercom system at the front entrance of campuses and upgrades to our visitor management system, which is utilized at each school, Flores said.
"We will also begin the installation of emergency broadcast and intercom systems and student badging systems at our campuses," Flores added. "These are priority projects for Round Rock ISD as we continue to work toward creating a unified system of safety and security resources, as well as process and procedures at all Round Rock ISD campuses."

Technology also is a key area for bonds proceeds. To that end, Flores noted efforts to refresh student laptop carts and devices, as well as campus and staff devices at various campuses. "This refresh will be an ongoing project and take place as needed at campuses across the district," Flores said.
Much-needed capital renewal and replacement projects beginning this summer include roofing, HVAC and paving improvements and upgrades at campuses and facilities, Flores added: "We’re also breaking ground on playground improvements at multiple elementary campuses, including installation of new playground turf and shade structures. Turf will also be replaced at both the Cedar Ridge High School field and Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex. The track at Cedar Ridge is also slated to undergo improvements."

Fulkes Middle School, the construction of an Aquatics Practice Facility and the District’s 35th elementary school. This is a critical time for these projects as the design and planning stages will create a strong foundation for project implementation.
"As our District moves forward on Bond 2018 projects during the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to reach out with updates as well as information on what to look for in the future," Flores said. "Between updates, I encourage you to stay connected to our Bond website, for news and information."
