Round Rock Man Accused Of Selling Counterfeit Goods

Department of Justice officials say Steve Kim, 58, sold more than $325,000 worth of counterfeit sports apparel on eBay.

ROUND ROCK, TX— A Round Rock man was arrested this week on federal charges for allegedly selling more than $325,000 worth of counterfeit sports apparel on eBay, law enforcement officials said.

A federal grand jury indicted Steve Kim, 58, with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and another count of trafficking counterfeit goods, officials at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District announced. The charges stem after allegations that Kim knowingly sold counterfeit jerseys and hats branded with the NBA (National Baseball Association), MLB (National League Baseball), NFL (National Football League) and NHL (National Hockey League) from January 2010 to June 2, 2017, according to the indictment.

According to officials, most of the items were purchased in China before being shipped to Kim's Round Rock home. Officials seized more than 2,300 counterfeit items from not only the aforementioned sports organizations, but brands that included Louis Vitton, New Era, Reebok and others. The retail value of the seized items exceeded $189,000, according to law enforcement officials.
