Round Rock Man Accused Of Using Fake Credit Cards, Data Skimmers

ROUND ROCK, TX – A Round Rock man is accused of using hundreds of fake credit cards and data skimmers at gas stations throughout Texas. Didier Gonzalez-Perez, 36, has been charged with engaging in organized crime, according to a news report by The Statesman.

The newspaper reported that law enforcement discovered that Gonzalez-Perez, another man along with the man's girlfriend had been placing credit card skimmers at gas pumps in Round Rock and other surrounding areas. They would then retrieve the credit card information using Bluetooth technology.

During the investigation, police said they discovered 10 credit card skimmers and 241 fraudulent credit cards inside the apartments of Gonzalez-Perez and the other man believed to be involved in the crime.

Gonzalez-Perez was arrested last week and booked into the Williamson County Jail. A judge has set his bail at $250,000. If convicted, he could face up to 99 years in prison.

According to Williamson County Jail records, the other two people who police believe were involved in the credit card scheme with Gonzalez-Perez have not yet been charged.
