Round Rock Man Charged With Murdering His Father In Early Morning Shooting Incident

Tabyes Sauls, 23, charged with killing Leonard Coolidge Sauls III, 45, whose body was found in a field early Sunday morning.

ROUND ROCK, TX — Travis County Sheriff's Office officials on Sunday disclosed the identity of a homicide victim discovered over the weekend, and revealed the victim's son has been arrested in connection with the death.

On Sunday at around 3:40 a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to multiple 911 calls about an incident involving a vehicle in a field along the 11000 lock of Gregg Lane. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the body of a black male in his 40s next to the vehicle. The dead man had a gunshot wound, sheriff's officials said.

A subsequent investigation revealed that two adult sons of the victim emerged as suspects in the death. Within hours of a search to locate them, the men were found and interviewed by detectives. As a result, Tabyes Sauls, 23, of Round Rock was charged in the man's murder.

The victim has been identified as Leonard Coolidge Sauls III, 45, officials said.

An investigation into the case is ongoing, according to a Travis County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. The fate of the second son in connection to the incident was not disclosed. Patch will update as more details are provided.
