Round Rock Man Robs Whataburger, Flees: Police

Anis Behnamiri Masomian​, 35,faces more than 100 years' imprisonment after allegedly robbing store and leading police on 70-mile chase.

ROUND ROCK — An armed suspect robbed a Whataburger and customer before leading police on a long chase until running out of gas, according to a published report.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon, but details have just been released via an affidavit referenced bythe Austin American-Statesman in a report. Anis Behnamiri Masomian, 35, is seen on surveillance camera video entering the restaurant at 1500 Interstate 35 South armed with a gun while ordering customers to get on the ground and employees to go outside, police allege in the affidavit, according to the report.

A customer seemingly unaware of what had transpired walked into the restaurant and approached the counter before Mosomian allegedly pointed the gun at his head while demanding his wallet. Masomian is also accused of pointing the gun at the manager and a employee while demanding money from the cash register, the Statesman reported.

Masomian has since been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. He also was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle (after leading police on a 70-mile chase), a third-degree felony for which he faces another maximum 10 years in prison, according to the report.
