Round Rock Mattress Firm Store Among Those Slated To Close

Area stores are among 200 of the company's worst-performing as chain files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize its debt.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — The Round Rock Mattress Firm location is among those slated to be closed following the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

The retailer filed for reorganization of its debt under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code on Friday, a move prompting the closure of up to 700 of its 3,300 stores nationwide. Company officials said the stores scheduled to immediately close are among 200 of its under-performing sites, and another 500 stores could be on the chopping block.

But the company vowed to continue on, albeit leaner: "We will continue to provide unmatched value to our customers by offering the best quality beds at prices that fit any budget today, tomorrow and into the future," Mattress Firm CEO Steve Stagner said in a prepared statement.
