Round Rock PD Among Community Policing Photo Contest Winners

Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services taps local force among the winners of its fifth annual contest.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — The Round Rock Police Department was one of a dozen police forces to be selected as winners of a photo contest aimed at spotlighting positive community outreach.

The contest organized by The Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) announced the winners of its fifth annual “Community Policing in Action” photo contest on Tuesday.

"Piloted in 2014, the contest has received widespread support from law enforcement providing a platform for agencies to share positive interactions with community members," officials wrote in a press advisory.

Broad use of photography by the Round Rock Police Department is evidenced in its social media platforms. On Thursday, for instance, the department alerted to its upcoming junior academy:

The COPS Office invited state, local, territorial and tribal law enforcement agencies to submit photos that best depicts community policing in action. The other winners of the contest are:

  • Camden County (New Jersey) Police Department.
  • Charleston (South Carolina) Police Department.
  • Cranston (Rhode Island) Police Department.
  • DeKalb (Illinois) Police Department.
  • Fauquier County (Virginia) Sheriff’s Office.
  • Grand Rapids (Michigan) Police Department.
  • Harris County (Texas) Constable – Precinct 3.
  • Largo (Florida) Police Department.
  • Methuen (Massachusetts) Police Department.
  • Michigan State Police Department.
  • Orange County (California) Sheriff’s Department.
