Round Rock Police Chief Meets 7-Year-Old Philanthropist

Chief Allen Banks finally got to meet Ximena, the little girl who surreptitiously donated her allowance to a fund for a fallen officer.

ROUND ROCK, TX — In the course of his days and weeks, Police Chief Allen Banks meets an untold number of people as part of his job. But on Monday, he met a very special resident — a little girl who slipped a note of condolence for a fallen officer under the door of police headquarters, along with her $4 allowance as a contribution to a community assistance fund for his family.

Last week, police posted a picture of the note along with messages of thanks. But other than her signed name, Ximena, nobody really knew who the generous little girl was. The community is still reeling over the recent death of Officer Charles Whites, who succumbed to injuries suffered after being hit by a car while directing traffic in late February. A fund had been set up to help his family with medical and related costs, and Ximena wanted to pitch in as well.

The chief finally got to meet the tiny philanthropist. Photos of the reunion were posted on the Round Rock Twitter page. "Chief Banks surprised the 7-year-old who left her $4 allowance and a heartfelt note at the Department for the family of Officer Charles Whites last week," police wrote on Twitter. "Chief presented Ximena with a hug and goodies, she got a close look at Charles’ patrol vehicle."
