Round Rock Residents Can Recycle Holiday Trees Into Mulch

On Saturday, Jan. 5, those recycling trees into fine mulch beneficial to gardens will receive a free tree sapling while supplies last.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — Residents have until Saturday to recycle their holiday trees as beneficial mulch and get a free tree sapling in return.

The city launched the free service on Dec. 29, with the last day for Christmas tree recycling scheduled on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Rock Brush Recycling Center, 310 Deepwood Dr. The city also will give away one small tree seedling per vehicle while supplies last. Volunteer will be on hand to help residents unload their trees.

Beyond that event, residents can bring their Christmas trees in for recycling to the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center during regular operating days. Those hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The center is closed on Sunday.

Trees are shredded into a fine mulch that is offered free to Round Rock residents for pickup at the recycling center. The mulch also can be purchased by contractors and non-residents for $5 per cubic yard. Local businesses can also drop off their Christmas trees. For a small fee ($15 per truckload), businesses that sell Christmas trees can recycle their leftovers as well. For more information, contact Forestry Manager Emsud Horozovic at 512-218-5540.
