Round Rock Schools Adjust Calendar For Upcoming Academic Year

The revamped hours will add ten minutes to each school day in compliance to new legislation.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- Round Rock ISD officials announced an adjusted academic calendar for the upcoming 2016-17 adding 10 minutes to each school day in compliance with new state legislation.

Beginning in August, all Round Rock ISD schools will have a 430 minute day as a result of HB 2610, officials said on their website. As a result of the added ten minutes per day, Round Rock ISD won't have to make up scheduled "bad weather days" if the district is closed due to inclement weather.

Taking effect in August are the following school day time adjustments according to grade level:

Pre-Kindergarten: 7:40 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Elementary School: 7:40 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.,
Middle School: 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and
High School: 9:05 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The morning pre-kindergarten sessions will have an opportunity to eat breakfast, officials noted.

Pre-kindergarten campuses for 2016-2017 consist of: Anderson Mill; Berkman; Bluebonnet; Brushy Creek; Caldwell Heights; Callison; Double File Trail; Elsa England; Forest North; Gattis; Herrington; Jollyville; Old Town; Pond Springs; Purple Sage; Robertson; Union Hill; Voigt; and Wells Branch elementary schools.

Elementary school and middle school early release days will occur September 28, October 26 and April 5. Elementary schools will be dismissed at 12 p.m. and middle schools will be dismissed at 1 p.m.

The last three days of each semester will be early release for high school exams, officials said. High schools will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. on early release days.
